From a humble beginning in 1924 at the YMCA in Santa Ana,
California, Toastmasters International has grown to become a world
leader in helping people become more competent and comfortable in front
of an audience. The nonprofit organization now has nearly
250,000 members in
more than 12,500 clubs in
106 countries, offering a proven – and enjoyable! – way to practice and hone communication and leadership skills.
During Toastmasters meetings, participants practice and learn skills
by filling a meeting role, ranging from giving a prepared speech or an
impromptu one to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian.
There is no instructor; instead, each speech and meeting is critiqued
by a member in a
positive manner, focusing on what was done right and
what could be improved.

Why be a Toastmaster?

Upon completion of your Competent Communicator and Competent Leader Manual, Toastmasters International will award you with a Certificate. The Certificate will also be
mailed to your Employer. Titles would be added to your name. For instance, if John attained Advanced Toastmaster (Bronze), he will be called John, ATMB.
6) Build your ability to Motivate and Persuade
Being able to communicate is level one. After that you need to have the
power to motivate people. Leaders motivate their teammates.
Persuasion power allows you to convince others without having to use force.
7) Reach your Professional and Personal goals
As Toastmaster Club sets goals, you
set your own goals too. As new Toastmasters, your club will assign you a Mentor to assist you in achieving your goals in Toastmasters.
8) Increase your self confidence.
